Hull Soup started out in 2015 as 'Breakcake' with a pilot event at Fruit in Dec of that year. We learned alot, made a few changes and are back to give things a go during -and hopefully beyond- 2018. For that we need the support of you and all your mates to help people's small, bright ideas change the world.

 

What is Hull Soup?

 

Simply, the idea is based on a micro-funding concept called Detroit Soup which started in America several years ago and has now spread across the world. It's based on a few key principles which we've incorporated into Hull Soup:

 

* An idea from upto 4 small groups, charities or individuals are chosen to pitch.

   (these ideas must benefit the local community and be non-profit)

 

* You come along and pay suggested donation on the door which gives you a bowl of yummy homemade soup, a cuppa and a vote

 

* Ideas are pitched

 

* You lot discuss said ideas and privately cast your votes

 

* The winners strut away with the lion's share, and the other groups get summot too!

 

* The winners then come back to the next Hull Soup gig to tell us how it all went.

 

So upto now we've had a young people's homeless charity, a community allotment project, a womens' well being sewing/craftivism group, and writers' circle, and a little cafe which supports vulnerable adults.
