FAQ's

I want to come do I just turn up?

Yes if you’re coming along just turn up. We do have limited space at the venue so best not to arrive late if possible. If you’re coming with a large group and want to make sure you can get in then get in touch and we can see what we can do.

What’s the entry fee?

We ask for a suggested donation of £5, this gets you some soup, a bread roll , along with a vote.

Remember that all the money goes to the winning pitch so if you feel it’s worth more than £5 then give a bit more, if you can’t afford £5 then give what you can.

Making a pitch FAQ

As a contender, do any guests I bring have to pay entry?

It would be great if any guests that come along with you pay the suggested donation (£5) the more money we raise on the night the more you can win for your idea.

How long do I have to pitch for?

We recommend about 5 minutes, with some time for questions from the audience after.

Can I bring things to help me with my pitch?.

Yes props and items to help you demonstrate your idea are most welcome.

Do I need to prove a need and that my idea works to be given a chance to pitch?

No, but the more thought out your idea is, the more chance you have of winning on the night.

I didn’t win the vote, can I come and pitch again?

You are more than welcome to submit your idea again and it will be put forward when choosing the people to pitch at the following event.

Yey I won the money, what happens now?.

Well done, you will be given the money on the night and asked to sign a contract form. Don’t worry this is nothing major. All we ask from you is to agree to spend the money on what your pitched idea was about. Keep receipts from any expenditure. Spend the money within 3 months.

And finally..... come back to the next Hull Soup and tell us how you got on.

Im from outside Hull can I still put forward and idea to pitch ?

Yes, we ask that all pitched ideas somehow benefit people in Hull or the local village’s i.e Cottingham, Beverley, Hedon, Hessle, ect
